Who's affected
Predatory solar sales have harmed homeowners in every state.
This isn't a handful of bad actors. Across the country, homeowners were sold solar on promises that never held up — and left with a contract, a loan, and no one to call. SGT Team exists to change that.
Who it happens to
The people predatory solar hits hardest.
Retirees & fixed-income homeowners
Sold “free” solar and locked into 20–25 year loans that outlast the promised savings.
First-time solar buyers
Told the tax credit and utility savings would cover the payment — then the math never worked.
Homeowners mid-sale of their house
Blocked at closing by a UCC lien or an assumable solar loan no one disclosed.
What the harm looks like
The grievances we hear again and again.
Misrepresented savings
Your bill went up, not down — the “guaranteed” savings you were promised never existed.
Hidden liens & financing
A UCC filing, dealer fee, or loan you were never clearly told you were signing.
Forged or rushed contracts
Signatures, terms, or approvals you don’t remember agreeing to.
Broken or dead systems
Panels that were never switched on — or never worked from day one.
Abandoned installs
The company took your money, half-finished the job, and disappeared.
Roof & property damage
Leaks, cracked tiles, and damage the installer refuses to own.
Who we are
The Solar Grievance Task Force is a consumer-advocacy organization. We came out of a simple, frustrating pattern: homeowners were being sold solar on promises that never held up — inflated savings, hidden liens, dead systems — and then left with a contract, a loan, and no one to call.
We do the part that's hard to do alone. We gather the paperwork, name what went wrong, identify who's responsible — including the finance company that holds your loan under the FTC Holder Rule — and press for a resolution. When a matter belongs in court, we refer homeowners to licensed attorneys.
You may know our work from exitsolar, where we help homeowners understand and get out of bad solar deals. The Task Force is the next step: active help pursuing your specific grievance.
* Figures on this page describe the broader problem and are pending verified sources. We do not publish claims about specific outcomes we have obtained.
If this happened to you, you're not alone — and you're not stuck.
